Source-accountable AI editing

Finish your manuscript without surrendering authorship.

Author’s Measure checks a draft against your sources and intentions. It flags where the writing strays from your evidence, voice, or audience, revises only what you approve, and records what came from you, your sources, interpretation, and AI.

AI offers editorial counsel.
The author remains the author.
01

Prove what was read

The app records exactly which sources were fully read before any review, so AI cannot claim support from material it did not read.

02

Keep judgment human

The reviewer advises. You approve, reject, or change every suggested edit before the draft is revised.

03

Revise with receipts

Author’s Measure turns only the suggestions you approve into a revised draft. Your editorial record shows why each important change was made, which source supports it, and whether it came from you or AI.

Founding use case

Born in ministry. Built for source-rich nonfiction.

The workflow grew from a minister’s real book-making journey across decades of sermons, notes, research, model drafts, corrections, and final human decisions.

01 · Project foundation and sources

Set the guide. Choose the chapter sources.

Your project foundation stays active across the whole manuscript. Your source library can grow over time, while you choose which documents the reviewer should use for this chapter.

100% selected sources ready
Project foundation

The master guide that stays with every chapter

Record the book’s purpose, readers, voice, and boundaries once. The reviewer must use this guide throughout the project, but it cannot substitute for factual source evidence.

Recommended working unit Work one chapter at a time.

Keep the full project guide and source library, then select the sources most relevant to the current chapter. Review chapters first, followed by a separate whole-book continuity check.

Best: 1 draft chapter + 3–10 relevant sources This prototype: 1 master guide + 1 draft + up to 10 source files, 250 KB each and about 1 MB of sources combined File types: plain text or Markdown

Sources stay in the library even when they are not selected.
Only the project foundation, current draft, and selected sources are used in the chapter review.
02 · Project planner

One collection. More than one possible project.

The Project Planner suggests formats and audiences without rewriting your draft. You decide which possibility to develop.

Review first. Revise second.

GPT-5.6 Sol compares the draft with the sources and project plan. It can point out problems, but it cannot decide what changes become part of your work.

Editorial conversationQuestion the review before making decisions.

Ask what source supports a suggestion, whether the editor considered a particular document, or how a recommendation fits your voice. The exchange is added to your private editorial record.

05 · Your decisions

The reviewer advises. You decide.

Approve, reject, or change every suggested edit. Suggestions you reject are never given to the Reviser.

06 · Reviser

A revision with receipts.

The Reviser receives the original passage, project plan, supporting sources, and only the suggestions you approved. The AI never receives suggestions you rejected.

Ready for your approved suggestions

Create the revised passage, then inspect exactly what changed and why.

07 · Editorial record

See where every important change came from.

This private record shows which changes you approved, what sources support them, and where AI contributed. It protects your authority without requiring readers to see every internal step.

    08 · Publishing options

Choose how to publish after the editorial work is complete.

Author’s Measure can prepare the route and materials. It never sends, uploads, purchases, accepts terms, or publishes without your exact approval.

    Two final checks remain

Review the whole project for continuity, then complete the author read-aloud and final edit before choosing a publishing route.

    Privacy and confidentiality

Sensitive stories still require human judgment.

Everything in this public demonstration is invented. In live AI mode, only the material needed for the review is sent to OpenAI, with saving turned off. This prototype does not store your files online or record their text in server logs.

The confidentiality warning helps you review sensitive material; it cannot guarantee that a story is safe to publish.

    Accountable editorial conversation

    Ask the editor

The editor answers from your project foundation, current draft, selected sources, and review. It cannot silently change the manuscript.
